That 2.5 year gap must have been so bitter, but how wonderfully sweet to hear those words again at 3 years old.
My Gracie said about five words before she turned one, and then just stopped talking. She didn’t say mama or mommy again until she was almost two and in the past six months, leading up to her fourth birthday, she started saying “I love you”. It’s a very sweet sound.
Nothing, silence, words not heard again wreck a soul. But when they begin to return, as in both of our cases, little by little hope rebuilds and shores up our strength so we can move a bit faster, in a focused direction towards that goal of acceptance with an understanding, and the passionate pursuit of the ultimate goal, witnessing a resurrection.
